Dear NEU Researchers,
In March 2024, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Vietnam’s Prime Minister jointly announced the elevation of the bilateral relationship to ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’. In this highest level of ‘mateship’, Australia affirms its commitment to continue supporting Vietnam's developmental endeavours through bilateral, sub-regional, and regional initiatives aligned with Vietnam's socio-economic development priorities, while Vietnam acknowledges Australia's longstanding provision of assistance and assist Australia in building the ASEAN-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
With presenters from Vietnam, ANU and elsewhere, this one-day workshop will provide insights into the newest Australia’s strategic partner in Southeast Asia. The workshop examines the nature of Vietnam’s contemporary development issues, ranging from macroeconomy and international trade to responses to climate change and social issues. These matters are of concern to policymakers, government agencies, and other stakeholders, addressing current or near-future societal problems or challenges in Vietnam that necessitate policy intervention. The presenters will employ evidence-based research methodologies to identify and discuss the implications of their findings for policy development, implementation, or evaluation, offering insights that decisionmakers can utilize to formulate effective policies.
